Alternative Break Weekend Trips

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Alternative Break

The Center for Civic Engagement is excited to send a delegation of passionate and committed student leaders to Atlanta, Georgia this year in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of service. Through pre-departure education and direct service to the community in which Dr. King was born, participants will explore the impact that a legacy of service and community activism can have on a community. The group will seek opportunities to assist various community organizations in the Atlanta area including New American Pathways, an organization that works on refugee and immigrant resettlement, and the Atlanta Community Food Bank. When participants are not busy contributing through service, the group will seek opportunities to explore various historical sites with ties to the life and work of Dr. King.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, “What are you doing for others?”

- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
